❤ Yesterday*, I helped my parents move into a different house for the first time since August of 1976.
Their insurance is going to rent them a house for two years while they start the process of moving forward, figuring out how to rebuild and whatever else may come. A lot can change in 2 weeks.
Forty-four years ago they bought a tiny cabin on the side of a mountain. Over the years their family grew and they expanded the walls of that cabin until it grew into a home where countless friends and family were welcomed. It felt like that place you could always come back to, it was just always going to be there, welcoming you with a menagerie of animals, an overflowing of plants, a baked good [or three] fresh from the oven, my dad tinkering with something and more recently, accordion music coming up from the apartment below. That house is gone now, along with the entire neighborhood I grew up in.

But my mom will soon be baking, my dad is already eyeing things to tinker with & the accordion will still be playing! And as soon as possible, family & friends will be welcomed back into their home ❤

**This was definitely not the first thing I had planned to write about but life happens.
